Wich processor i need in my next pc for a 1080p mkv with sub-encoding? My dual-core processor is constant at 95-100% cpu usage and stuttering. 720p just works fine. I stream always wired to my ps3 with ums and subs.
On the internet i read it's even much work for an intel i7 processor? Is this true?
Thanks

I use an i7-2600 CPU and 1080p with subs works for me

how much cpu usage you have then when it's the onliest program active?

Transcoding should always use 100% CPU on any hardware. The only difference is that on a faster computer it will use 100% CPU for less time.

So an i7 or equal is necessary for a smooth playback with this content?

If should run faster if you set "Maximum bandwidth" on the General Configuration tab to 0

And also it should run faster with FFMPEG engine.
Also it is hard to say if your problem is poor CPU or network. If video stutter when buffer is not empty in UMS GUI, problem is network.
If problem is network, you can set bandwidth limit or change transcoding quality to avoid stuttering.

it streams around 5mb or less buffer size all the time so i suppose it's the processor then?
