I am having an issue with the aspect ratio on my Vizio M series TV. I stream .mkv files, but the tv displays them with a black bar on top and bottom. It shows the resolution as 1920x1080, but the actual video is cropped.

I used the search function and didnt find any help. Anyone run into this issue and find a fix?

You can add this line to your renderer configuration file:

Code: Select all

KeepAspectRatioTranscoding = true
Hoping that helped you.

What is the actual resolution of the video file? Sometimes black bars are good things.
Like Sami32 linked, if you provide logs we can see

After doing some more digging, I figured out that the source files are the problem. They all have the width of 1920 but most of them have a height of only about 800. Now I just need to figure out the reason why...

So it looks like the TV is doing what it should.

If the movie has been made for cinema, then that is perfectly normal =)

Yeah like squadjot said that is a normal aspect ratio for movies :) I'm marking this as resolved
