Samsung BD-E5500

Post by userseven »

I'm using UMS 2.6.4 with my Samsung E5500 bluray player and it works great out of the box without me having to tinker too much with the settings, mostly because the player itself is quite capable in playing natively all sorts of video and audio formats and so I didn't get into any transcoding pains. I'm effectivelly using UMS just as an alternative to the windows shares that the player cannot browse by itself. However there are some thing that nag me.
The player for some reason doesn't not accept embedded subtitles in mkvs nor chapters. Is there a way to circumvent this from some magical config in UMS without resorting to just extracting the sub as a external file? Does anyone found an alternate way to have chapters functioning in some form?
The player it's seen as generic "samsung allshare". The thumbnails do not show (although on my android they seem to, but that's pretty much all that works). Is there a better allshare config file I should look into? Thanks.
