Re: Which video files engine to use?

Since someone else brought up the differs between the two decoders...which is best for sound? My receiver (yamaha) shows 7.1 through the ps3 (is that correct?) no matter which encoder is chosen. My pc is pretty robust, so which one gives the best surround?

Re: UMS can't be detected over 2 router network by ps3?

I looks like you have the asus router handing off DHCP and the comcast acting as a bridge with a class a address. I would turn off the dhcp on the asus and turn it on on the comcast. It should hand out dhcp all under one class c subnet.

Re: random pausing during playback

My exact same stuttering problem was resolved by power cycling one of my switches. You would think a "cisco" switch wouldn't need that. But I have found that it resolves the issue (more than once) if one of my other switches or router goes down. I'm guessing maybe to refresh its arp table?

UMS on Virtualbox

I have been running UMS successfully on a Win 7 (64) box, but wanted to add other instances on some vms running on the same machine.
I have tried both 4.2.2 and 5.x.x with the same results and was hoping I can get some help ts the issue.

When accessing the web interface (the only thing I want to ...

Re: How to let my girlfriend connect to my UMS server?

I have tried using VPN and mapping drives with no luck...the stream requires too much bandwidth (I have 75 dl/ul).
The best way for her to access it is through the web portal.
You will have to enable port forwarding (or put the host in a dmz (not recommended)).
This is how I watch my shows at work ...

Re: Pause/freeze on MKV files after a few minutes of watchin

Since you aren't getting any errors in the log, I would assume it's hardware related. I had the same issue with mine, and it turned out that one of my gigabit switches needed to be power cycled. Switch had no other symptoms except the annoying pause every 6-7 mins or so. All other traffic seemed ...

Viewing MKV files via web

I am trying to view mkv files via the web interface. They will play for a split second and then croak with an error in the log (see below). All other file formats work with no problems, it is just MKVs. I have searched on here and the ffmpeg site with no solutions. Please help.
