Re: 64 bit warnings now with Mojave

In UMS, go to Transcoding Settings and then in the first section on the left "Common Transcode Settings", under Misc settings, add "mp4,mkv" to the "Skip transcoding for the following extensions" field. Not sure if you need to restart it for that, but it won't hurt. Then if the videos you want to pl...

Re: 64 bit warnings now with Mojave

So I installed MacOS Catalina as a guest OS in VMWare Fusion and Universal Media Server 9.0.1 opens, connects to my Blu-ray player and streamed a compatible mp4 just fine. So, it does look like if you don't rely on mplayer, mencoder or flac transcoding you may not have any issues. Also, if you're st...

Re: 64 bit warnings now with Mojave

Well, one would think the programmers have some idea how they implemented things and could have some idea as to what might happen. One of them could also be running the public beta. Either way we'll find out come release day within the next few weeks. It just important to know before upgrading since...

Re: 64 bit warnings now with Mojave

I only stream compatible files without any transcoding, so will those 32 bit files just not load and everything else will operate fine or will they inhibit the app from opening and functioning otherwise. If 64 bit versions cannot be added in time, it would be a good idea to detect and skip them on a...

Re: Java 9 and UMS

On MacOS, Universal Media Server refuses to open with Java 9 installed. It puts up an alert saying something like it couldn't launch Java runtime. Deleted Java 9 and reverted back to 8 and it opens again. Maybe Min and Max Java versions need to be set so that it will still use 8 even if 9 is also in...

Re: 6.0.0-b2 and 5.5.0 released

The language selection prompt is showing up every time UMS opens It's only supposed to show up until you select something. What are you selecting? Same thing is happening for me, selecting "English, United States". Even if I select "English, United Kingdom" same problem, shows up every time at laun...

Re: OS X: Add a Renderers folder to /Application Support/UMS/

FYi, I don't know if this is intended, but it was confusing... The Log tab doesn't show the trace output and only shows what it usually does. I needed to click the "Open full debug log" in the console to see everything the trace was showing. This line from below clued me into the fix: TRACE 14:18:50...

Re: OS X: Add a Renderers folder to /Application Support/UMS/

Hmmm, when I try to play the transcoded versions now they don't play any video. I can hear the audio. I think the problem exists before the video even plays since with the transcoders disabled, the player identifies the video as MP4, but with the transcoders enabled they are identified as MPEG and h...

Re: OS X: Add a Renderers folder to /Application Support/UMS/

That's too bad, since the Skip extensions used to work with PS3MS and MediaInfo = true. My mp4 and mkvs should meet the specs unless the codec text need to match h264 and ac3 exactly even though AVC and AC-3 are the same thing. I don't really use transcoding anyway so disabling it all is not as big ...

Re: OS X: Add a Renderers folder to /Application Support/UMS/

So I partially fixed my mp4 playback problem. I was reading this thread https://github.com/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/issues/598 and disabled HTTP Engine V2 and I was able to play mp4 files again like I could in 5.1.3 and earlier. I was able to do this with a regular renderer conf and...
