UMS Cannot Find PS3 and vice versa
Hi there, I'm trying to setup UMS to stream to my PS3 for the first time, and I'm not having any luck. UMS will detect other renderers like WMP but will not detect my PS3.
I believe everything within UMS is setup correctly, see log below. I have my PS3 on a Static IP and i have tried using that in the IP filter field with no luck. UPNP is enabled for my router on the port UMS is using.
I have no firewall enabled on my computer, any relevant settings in my router (Linksys BEFSR41 v4) have been set, all sharing options in my Homegroup in Windows 7 have been enabled, the PS3 is configured with a static ip and media servers are enabled. I have tried resetting the network twice just because and that also had no effect. I can ping my PS3 without any problem. I tried using Serviio and it doesn't seem to pick up the PS3 either.

Im having the same issues... No real help so far..

Re: UMS Cannot Find PS3 and vice versa
If I'm not mistaken the clients/server detection is an UPNP feature, and occurs over port UDP 1900 (make sure both devices are on the same network segment, and no filtering on UDP occurs). Once each end knows about each other, then all traffic goes thru TCP 5001 (check this thread viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1572).
I hope it helps, Wolf

See also the PMS faq for all sorts of network troubleshooting tips. I don't have a PS3, but this one seems relevant re visibility:
- On the PS3, make sure that "Settings > Network Settings > Media Server Connection" is enabled.
Re: UMS Cannot Find PS3 and vice versa
on windows 7 you might have to "right click" and "run as administrator" on UMS b/c win7 is config that way for some reason. If ums is not setup to run as a start up program and you just double click ums to start it up after boot up then you have to do the 2 steps above.
Re: UMS Cannot Find PS3 and vice versa
Well what gets me is that it was working.. nothing has been changed on my desktop or PS3 and/or Router. I was watching a movie before bed.. the next day .. no worky!
What's even more weird is that PS3MS works! and UMS does not... I thought they were "basically" the same.. I like UMS way better. The General configuration between the two programs are identical.. so I am at a loss on what to try..
