cheap graphics card for GPU acceleration

I have an Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 based server that sweats at 75% on all cores when it transcodes h264/720p to a PS3. As the server is still good I would like to add a cheap graphic card just for recoding - what would be a viable card?

Most engines we support don't use GPU acceleration so it wouldn't make much difference. It's mostly CPU-bound
