Install best memory allocation recommendation?

I googled, but couldn't find a chrt of best recommended memory allowcation settings.

Is there a "rule of thumb"? I've got 8 gig on my system.

Mm yeah, it's on my to-do list to make the memory part of the installer disabled by default, but visible with a "custom installation" option. I should do that tomorrow, along with a million other things hehe
