Best media renderer for UMS ?
Best media renderer for UMS ?
Good day,
My old PS3 just died last night (yellow light) for the second time and i'm not confident to revive it again. (last time the yellow light of dead was fix with a heatgun on the cpu/gpu)
It might be the time to change. What is the best player at the moment ? I'm mostly playing 1080p mkv files some are ac3 some are dts.
thank you

Re: Best media renderer for UMS ?
Same Question. My WDTV box finally died. I'm looking for something that will handle mkv with DTS-HD.
Re: Best media renderer for UMS ?
I use a Panasonic TV and it supports AC-3 and DTS in MKV. It's a very stable renderer. Samsung and LG TVs seem to have good file support too, but I don't have personal experience with them so I'd say Panasonic.
For a device that connects to the TV, I'd say again Panasonic Blu-Ray players are good. We have a profile for the inexpensive BDT-360 and it also supports those formats.
None of the current-generation gaming consoles support DTS unfortunately.
TL;DR: Panasonic TV or Panasonic Blu-ray player.
