UMS 5.2.2 Still not playing MP4 on Samsung

This used to work natively without encoding as Samsung supported MP4 files.

Please see attached logs.

File is:
DEBUG 11:57:21.008 [mplayer.exe-14-1] Playing I:\My Video\Kahlan\SkyScreamer.MP4.

Other files that were known to work in much older releases:
DEBUG 11:57:21.397 [mplayer.exe-15-1] Playing I:\My Video\Kahlan\VID_20140323_134255.mp4.

FYI this seems to go back to a very early release of 5.x and this topic:

Subjunk - you had provided 2 copies there to try out. The results of the first copy had the same issue I'm experiencing now:

Hi SubJunk. I tried UMS-d9dc5a8.exe as I have a Samsung CD. It does now recognize it as mpeg when I hit info but fails to play after some delay (black screen) saying video codec not supported. It is being tagged as using ffmpeg to transcode the file but an mp4 should stream to the Samsung.

The second worked fine:

UMS-30f0f20.exe works properly and FFmpeg no longer tries to transcode the mp4. MP4's work on my Samsung now with this release. I only tried a minute of the start of a file. Will test a full show tonight to make sure.

It looks like the fix in 30f0f20.exe didn't carry through in newer releases.

I managed to get my old mp4s playing properly by reverting to the old samsungcd.conf file that was included in the fixed release from the old topic.

Including the conf file that didn't work (BadSamsung) and the one that did work (Samsung).

The only problem now is that the new one called skyscreamer tries to play without transcoding as expected but throws an error that it isn't supported.

Ok last reply. It seems to be the Sony encoding not allowing that single mp4 to play. I played around with different converters and finally got it to work streaming without transcoding like the other files.

So the only problem at this time is that the conf file for samsung cd currently included does not work properly but the older one does.

Any hints aside from keeping a copy and deleting it each time a new release comes out?
