Is it possible to disable subtitles?
The option "disable subtitles" is ticked, but i still have to turn subtitles off manually from my TV every time. Is there a config option to stop this?

Yes, on your TV.
Disable subtitles in UMS means UMS will not send subs externally or will not transcode file to support subs.
In your case it seems your file includes subs (e.g. in MKV container) so UMS sends file as is directly to renderer without any modification.
Your TV sees subs in containder and depending on TV settings will load them or not. Nothing what UMS can do with.
