Rewind

Post by GuillermoAV »

I can't rewind or forward the videos. Do I have to do something special?

Every device behaves differently, so.. what device are you using?
The best way to get help is to follow Problem Reporting Guidelines

Edit: Going through your earlier post, i see that you're using PS4?
Atleast one issue is forward or rewind not working. (may only apply to transcoded files)

It was because of the subtitles. I deactivated them and now I can fast forward or rewind normally. I know that I can load the subtitles directly with the PS4 bacuse I was able to do that with serviio (you can change the font type and the size from PS4) but I cannot do it with UMS. Any ideas of how can I get subtitles and rewinf/forward working together?

I'm sorry, i don't know much about PS4, i don't have one.
Maybe someone else can help you.

But, so.., just to be sure, you say the exact same file, works with Serviio? FF/REW with subtitles?
And what about other fileformats?, w/wo subtitles?

My understanding is that the PS4 media player can do external .srt subtitles only. No .ass or embedded subtitles.

I added the following to the PS4.conf file to make it work. You also have to enable closed captioning, I believe.

# Supported subtitles formats:
SupportedExternalSubtitlesFormats = SUBRIP

If that actually works, maybe we should add it to the PS4.conf file distributed with UMS?

It does work nicely, although I find the transcoded subtitles by UMS on the PS3 with valib's latest fix look better. But on the PS4 you can stream the video so FF and RW works.

I just got a PS4 and would be happy to test some PS4 configs for you guys.

Also, given the number of PS4 related questions about FF/RW with transcoding, etc, maybe there should be a PS4 and UMS FAQ?

I'm not the one who's been dealing with the PS4 config, so I don't know anything about it. I just saw what you wrote and figured that it should be included if it works. A PS4 UMS FAQ might not be a bad idea, but I'm not the one who can write it.
