VOB audio problems (sometimes)

Post by depaus »

Hello,

Some of my VOB files have stuttering (drops) in the audio, and some have not. I've googled quite a while, but did not find an answer, so maybe there's someone who could help me. I've recently upgrade from PS3MS to the latest UMS, the PS3MS had the same problems.

VOB info details from a file that gives problem and VOB info details from a file that plays well are attached. Has it something to do with the fps?

Thanks in advance!

You should download MediaInfo to get some more information about the files. VLC doesn't show that much. Please note that the link I gave you is without a Windows installer. The reason is that the MediaInfo installer has adware in it that will be installed if you're not careful.

Also, following the red text above and "capture" playback of one of the troublesome files might be of help.

Thanks for the quick response

Hereby the info from MediaInfo

And what do you exactly mean with 'capture playback'?

Select view "text" or "tree" in MediaInfo to get full info. If you choose "text", you can easily paste the text here without having to do screenshots.

By "capturing" I mean to generate trace logs (as described in red above) while trying to play one of the files with issues, and then post the results here.

The only "obvious" difference I can see is that the trouble file is NTSC while the other is PAL. That means different framerate and resolution. I know virtually nothing about this, so somebody else should try to help, but you could check if the same is true for the other problem VOBs - if they are NTSC.

I've tested 9 vob files, and 3 of them had audio problems. According to MediaInfo those 3 have no standard, like below...

(the 6 vob working are PAL...)

Any Idea's?

Thanks in advance

Re: VOB audio problems (sometimes)

Post by depaus »

After being pointed to probably related NTSC problems, I googled and found the following expert setting for Mencoder

container == vob :: -ofps 23.976 -noass
ncontainer == iso :: -ofps 23.976 -noass

The audio isn't stuttering anymore, but now it's way out of sync, like 50-60 seconds

Any idea's? More settings?
