w7 - see browser?

Post by srumsusr »

Hello: just set up UMS w7 64. Sony Bravia KDL 40ex640. I have read the "prob. rep. guidelines" as above, but this is not a bug, I am a newbie on setting this up, that's it.
-Is UMS fairly easy to use on w7 platform?
-On the TV, I can see the w7 files. But I don't see firefox or chrome .exe's , only their folders & some of the folders' contents.
-I want to just stream from a browser on the pc to the TV, using the UMS. That possible? If so, please send me to the howto page showing me how to successfully complete the connection(s).
-UMS also sees the DirectTV as a "media share renderer". But I have not (yet) found a/the setting in the DTV box to see the UMS. Anyone know how to connect UMS to the DTV box?

--Are things any easier on the mac side? This is a dual-boot mac w/el cap., but I do most stuff on the w7 side.
--Also have ipad mini2 retina, but - can UMS be set up to stream to TV from that, & what would the speed/quality be (I don't think as good as from a pc)?

Thank you.

DLNA is used to stream media content from your PC to your TV. (videos, sound, pictures) - not applications.
Maybe your TV got a internet browser you can use to view internet content?
