Samsung TV stopped working with UMS
I'm having this issue all of a sudden whereas for the first week or two of getting my tv UMS was working with it well.
My Samsung tv is model UA60JS7200W.
My router is DSL-2890AL
I have a wired gigabit network, no firewall.
UMS works on the PS3 when connected to the same ethernet cable and port that I use on the tv.
The problem started with my being able to see UMS on the tv like normal but when I would select it as the source it would bring up the little Samsung loading circles and sit forever on those. Now I can't see UMS in the source choices. For most of the time UMS was previously working on the tv I had the tv connected to the network using its in-built wireless. Switching back to wireless now does not fix the issue. I've tried UMS 5.5.0 and UMS 6.0.0b2. I'm on Java 1.8.0_71-b15 but I have also tried UMS 5.5.0 on an older laptop with 1.8.0_44 or so and the issue happened there too. Windows 7 on both my computers.
Testing tonight I've fired up UMS 5.5.0 in Trace mode. Turned on the tv, confirmed it is connected to wireless but it does not show UMS as one of the input source choices. Returning to the computer I can see that UMS has detected my tv. I turn the tv off and then on again but it still does not see UMS. I leave the TV on and quit UMS (from Trace mode) wait 20 seconds then reopen it. It still shows my tv as detected (the icon is coloured) but when I return to the tv UMS is still not showing in the choice of input sources. I then Pack debug files and attach them to this post

Re: Samsung TV stopped working with UMS
It seems to me that you have to set something else on your TV. The TV communicates only at the UPnP level and UMS is recognized it but it is not communicating at the DLNA level.
Re: Samsung TV stopped working with UMS
Hmm I will see what I can find. Funnily enough today it randomly worked. Turned on UMS on the PC. Turned on the TV. Was about to turn on the PS3 to get to UMS but noticed UMS was showing in the source list again. Was able to watch an episode with no problem.
Re: Samsung TV stopped working with UMS
It seems like some kind of network trouble to me. You have a wired and a wireless network, are they using the same subnet/part of the same net?
Also, you could have heavy interference on the network keeping the UDP packets to get to the other end (there's no checksum -> retransmit for UDP). The whole discovery process is UDP, so for it to work the packages must get there without much disturbance. Disturbance could be introduced for example by a bad network device or electromagnetic sources for both wired and wireless networks. Unshielded network cables should generally never run parallell with AC cables. It's hard to guess without knowing anything about the network, but the "randomness" could be cause by some seemingly unrelated electrical appliance being turned on or off.
Another possibility is a bad module in the TV. I have an Onkyo Receiver with DLNA, which worked fine 6 months ago but now is almost impossible to get to work. I have to turn it on and off maany times for it to detect UMS, and when it's finally detected and I start playing some track, it will usually freeze within a couple of minutes. This is due to bad caps on a circut board, Onkyos are "famous" for these going bad.

Re: Samsung TV stopped working with UMS
I have a similar problem, my TV is Samsung UE65JS8500, UMS is installed in Windows 8 64 bit. I have a wired connection from TV to server throuh router.
For me the experience is that UMS most of the time unlisted in the list of available DNLA servers (while, it always shows another NAS) when I switch on TV. It will appear withing period 3-5 minutes if I change TV source back and forth.
My initial idea was that it might be connected to some sleep mode in the Server so I turned power saving mode off completely on server, also ticked "Prevent Windows from sleeping" in UMS setting - nothing helped.
Also from my experience UMS can be listed in TV for some time even if I turn TV off and on again in some period of time, but certainly not longer then 24 hours.
