Problem with AVI wit UMS. Works with PMS

I have been using PS3 Media Server on a windows 2008 box for a while with streaming to PS3, XBMC on Windows and XBMC on AppleTV2.
I have now changed to UMS, and the PS3 client still works great, however I cant play any AVI files via any of the XBMC clients. the file size shows as 0 B. if I shut down UMS and restart PMS it works fine. I have tried to use the conf file from PMS under UMS.

This is what I am getting from XBMC

Anyone using UMS 2.2.1 or 2.2.1 and plays AVI via XBMC?
