[Solved] Unsupported Data for mkv files on ps3

Post by labi »

I am having an issue with my ps3 playing mkv files. It used to work a few versions ago, but now I see unsupported data for almost all of my mkv files. I would say 95% of the mkv files I have are now "unsupported data"

I usually use my smart tv, but when subtitles are needed, I switch to my ps3 and this time I noticed that almost all my videos are now unsupported data, which worked fine in the past.

Attached is a log file of me turning on my ps3 and going into the directories shared by universal media server.

Any help is appreciated!

It looks like you've entered "mkv, avi, mpeg, mpg" into the disable transcoding setting. Since the PS3 doesn't support MKV files, that will be what's causing the issue.

You are correct! I added that a version or two back because I was having another issue (unrelated). The other issue was fixed and removing the disable transcode media files fixed my ps3 issue. Much appreciated!

All is well here now :)
