PS4 UMS Was Working Perfectly, Now Some avi Won't Play

I had UMS working perfectly on my PS4 for a couple of months, then I upgraded my PC to Windows 10 so had to redownload UMS and set it up again.

This time it won't play a lot of the videos that are avis, even ones that it had played previously?

Is it an issue with Windows 10, or a newer version of UMS? Is there anything I can try to get them working again?

All the MKV files I've tried seem to be okay and the avi videos that are now not working on my PS4 with UMS do still play fine on my desktop, so it's not corrupted files.

Help appreciated.

Any help with this? I've now got a wide range of mkvs and avis that did play fine before and now nothing at all. Is there a setting I need to change, or is this some bigger bug?

As it currently is UMS is almost useless, it won't play more than it will.

Which UMS version you used before you install WIN 10? Can you install that version and test it? From the log I see that UMS is correctly streaming the avi files and only PS4 is not accepting them.

I'll try and list all the things I've tried and tested whilst trying to resolve this:

1. Reinstalled up to date UMS - totally clean install.

2. Downloaded UMS 5.5.0. version - clean install.

3. Both times tried fully scanning in the shared folders library.

4. At one point I deleted UMS from my PS4 and then loaded that up again.

5. I've even tried Plex Media Centre and had the same issues with the same files on there....

6. The files all currently play fine on my PC and all played prior to upgrading my PC - it's a new PC and I upgraded to W10.

7. All my movies are MKVs, some are foreign language with embedded SRT files, some play, some don't, I can't see any pattern with what ones do, or don't. I've tried new blu-ray copied ones (the largest files) and really old 80's movies that are pretty small for movies. One of the largest files played fine, one of the smallest didn't. All the ones with SRT files that I tried seemed to be okay. I used MKV software to do every single one of my movies.

8. I have very few mp4 files, so far all the ones I've found didn't play.

9. Most of my TV series are in avi. These files seem to be the biggest problem. I really can't figure out why so many now don't play and yet others do. Even within a TV series, some will play and others won't. There doesn't seem to be any correlation between size, or frame width, age, etc.

10. Even more weirdly some avi files the sound plays, but the screen stays blank with a rotating (timer) symbol in the middle, these often crash after a few moments.

11. It's a wired connection from PC to PS4.

So just to reiterate, I had UMS working perfectly on my old PC and prior to W10 connecting to my PS4. My new PC is a pretty high end rig.

I'm on Win 7 so that may be the issue, but 6.2.2 works great with my PS4. Also, if Plex has the same issue, it doesn't sound like it's UMS.

I have the same issue with avi, m4v files. Most of them wont start on ps4. Some of them start with voice and after 10 seconds stop with error message (file not supported). Some files plays but with green belt on the top.

mkv plays fine.

Any solution?

Those files works fine under PLEX.
That is enough for me.
