cannot play some mkvs

Post by maudit »

I have several mkvs, I sometimes have had problems(file unsupported) with some of them
but choosing the "TRANSCODE" directory then "NO TRANSCODING", the files was playing anyway.

Now It seems this method no longer works with many of them.
In particular I'm trying to play this file

....

Can you help me to setup some of UMS configurations in order to see it?

The only way it plays is by selecting "Remux video with tsMuxer when possible instead of transcoding" in "Video files engine" / "FFMpeg".
It plays but in english language, so how do I select the appropriate language, in the case italian?

My TV is a Samsung C series, my cpu is an AMD Zacate APU.
The only other setting I've changed after a clean install, is "enable GPU acceleration".

Please help.

hi there is a simple solution to your problem get the italian subtitle to the movie you want to watch then go to the transcoding options before you watch and select one them that allows you to play the mkv movie file with the italian subtitles i think its much easier than mess up with configurations to make it work. you can choose in the transcode folder ts mixer, ffmepg and etc just look for one with the italian subtitles and play the movie if it works you can watch ok. ;)

thank you for the answers, btw I do not need the subtitles, I have to play the file in a different audio language, that mkv contain 6 audio tracks, 2 DTS(eng/ita) and 4 AC3.
and about the logs, I've looked at them but they contain informations about others network devices that I do not want to share.
I'll continue look at them, if I found some useful error message I'll report it.

edit: When I go in the Transcode directory, in the TV menu, I can select several audio/sub fileformat, all of these give me "unsupported fileformat error", even if I choose DTS or AAC, all these audio tracks are tagged as FFmpeg or Mencoder except the last that is tagged as tsMuxer and is only one and in English that is seems to be the default audio track.

yes its a good a idea keep looking for anomalies on the logs anything that can help developers to find a solution for you, anyway you also should consider that every tv have some codec and file types limitations even if the ums can by-pass it there is no guarantee that would work as an advice before you download a movie or whatever you want to watch make a research if your tv support the mkv, mp4 or another file type to not waste time. ;)
