[SOLVED] UMS not appearing as a DNLA/UPnP server on PS4/PS3

Post by UMSHelp »

I had UMS working at one point, however I noticed today that my PS4 was no longer discovering the server. I restarted the server with no success, restarted the PS4 with no success, then updated to the latest version of UMS (6.5.0 Java 7 on Win8.1) and also had no success. That's when I switched over to checking on my old PS3 and noticed it wasn't discovering the server either. However, both my HDHomeRun and my Windows Media Server were picked up by both consoles. Very strange.

I'm attaching the trace log to help in debugging. For reference the PS4's IP is 10.0.0.5, the PS3's is 10.0.0.165, and the server is 10.0.0.2. Which I even 'forced' to be the interface in the advanced network settings.

Any help would be much appreciated!

I have the same problem. Tried reinstall ums back to 6.3 and back again. It stopped working over a night 3-4 day ago.

You need to force the network interface which has the IP address "192.168.1.133" from UI.

I have done that setting in UMS. I know the ps4 have ip 192.168.1.172 and is granted access.
But it seems not to work. I dont know if it is anything with my computer or if its the network or UMS.

I can't access that address (http://10.0.0.2:5001/description/fetch) without disabling windows firewall. Even though I've added rules allowing TCP connections on that port. =/

I've followed the instructions from this thread: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=8461 on which ports to allow and have done so by creating and enabling the following rules.

Inbound rules:
TCP: Local Ports 5001, 9001, Remote Port all, with the Remote IP Scope set to 'local subnet'
UDP: Local Ports 1900, Remote Port all, with the Remote IP Scope set to 'local subnet'

Outbound rules:
TCP: Local Ports all, Remote Ports 5001, 5002, 9001, with the Remote IP Scope set to 'local subnet'
UDP: Local Ports all, Remote Port 1900, with the Remote IP Scope set to 'local subnet'

These rules are for the 'Private' and 'Domain' profiles and I'm connected to a 'Private' network. If I disable the windows firewall completely I can access http://10.0.0.2:5001/description/fetch. Are there any other ports or rules needed to get UMS working?

Thanks again for any assistance!

I think i got it to work now. It is something with the firewall. What i did is that i reseted the firewall to factory settings and it worked after that. :D

Please confirm my solution.

Thanks for the suggestion, resetting the firewall then re-adding the port exceptions listed above did indeed solve the problem! Oddly enough, just resetting the firewall rules wasn't enough. Good thinking on that, and hopefully adding further exceptions for other apps down the line doesn't get things back in the messed up state. But that's a problem for another time as UMS is working again!

Thanks for the help!
