Media not playing on PS4 when disabling subtitles

Hello everyone,

I have a rather strange problem, since updating to 6.5.0.
Whenever I select a movie (.mkv) from the #--TRANSCODE--# menu, to watch a movie without the included subtiles, or disable the subtitles in UMS, all together, I get a message that the PS4 "Cannot play the media".

This used to work perfectly, before the update, and the strange thing is, that when selecting the movie in the standard way (from the parent folder of the movie), the movie plays just fine, however, with the subtitles.

I included the debug file, if someone can help me resolve this, I would be very grateful.

UPDATE 04-10-2016:
By now I figured out that the program doesn't do this in all cases, but specifically with *.mkv files, that have a subtitle file included in the container.
When watching a *.mkv without a subtitle in the container, or a *.mp4 file, it plays it without problem, regardless of the subtitle setting.

Have you tried to disable "Remux videos with tsMuxeR when possible instead of transcoding" under FFmpeg settings?
That helped for me with the similar issue.

You need to enable Close Caption

1. System Setting
2. Accessibility
3. Closed Captions
4. Display Closed Captions.
5. Probably restart the Media Player.
6. Load Movie.
7. Option > CC > Turn ON.

I tried with embedded srt, it doesn't work

If you are struggling for Subtitle on Media Player and you want to skip all the hassle, use Plex App (worth your 5USD/month). Plex app only available in certain region.

Setting up Plex on PS4

1. Create another PSN account with US region (I created mine like m0d0plex)
2. Login with the new PSN account
3. Go to Playstation Store and download Plex

Getting Plex premium

1. Ensure you already have Plex running on your PC/Mac
2. Subscribe for Plex Premium Pass https://plex.tv/subscription/about
3. Login with your account
4. Pair your PS4 Plex app (PIN)

Setup Plex to auto download subtitle

And use a media encoder, you can get MKV remuxed to MP4 with subtitle for playing on PS4.
