Can't play .m4a or .flac (Humax HDR1000S)
I'm running UMS 6.5.1 as a service (viewtopic.php?f=4&t=8992) but I can't get .m4a or .flac files to play. I tried having them streamed and it didn't work so I tried having them transcoded and that didn't either.
Windows 7 x64, Java 8 x64 with a Humax HDR-1000S client (a PVR for Freesat TV).
Wrapper log file and rendered config files are attached.
I note in the log that "VLC not found" but it is installed, is in the Path and does work on the PC.
The conf file was copied from popcorn hour then edited, as that was the default that originally got picked up automatically.
I've tried looking around on this site and elsewhere but nothing helped me get beyond here.
Any suggestions?
TIA
p.s.
The DLNA features of the Humax are not well documented

Re: Can't play .m4a or .flac (Humax HDR1000S)
I recently updated to 6.5.2 and I also cannot play m4a files. MP3 plays fine, but m4a always lists as unreadable on my receiver. I use the smartphone app for my Yamaha receive to see the list of media from the server and I've noticed that the MP3 song names are just the track number and name as normal, but m4a files now show the actual file name. So it's like it isn't even reading the tags from them. I have all FLAC stored on my server so I haven't tried that file type yet.
Re: Can't play .m4a or .flac (Humax HDR1000S)
Just thought I'd let you know I seem to have resolved my problem by using Revo Uninstaller to uninstall UMS completely. It found many files being left behind. Then I did a fresh install of 6.5.2 and my m4a files are playing fine again, at least for now.
Re: Can't play .m4a or .flac (Humax HDR1000S)
That's good.
I've just installed the new 6.5.2 Java 8 UMS and re-installed VLC, so now VLC is being found on startup, but still can't play m4a or flac. I seem to have a transcoding problem.

Re: Can't play .m4a or .flac (Humax HDR1000S) - debug .zip attached
I have now got the standard debug .zip file and this is attached.
However, I think my problems are more basic:
I cannot find out, except through trial and error, which formats my client
supports, so the Humax .conf file is almost certainly not well set-up.
In particular, when transcoding formats not supported, I do not know what
they are being transcoded into - could be another unsupported format.
I don't know how to control this, so the problems are probably resolvable
at this level.
