For Raspberry PI AND Raspmc users
For Raspberry PI AND Raspmc users
Hi,
I just got a Raspberry Pi and installed Raspbmc. I have bought the Mpeg2 licence and looking forward to make my Raspberry Pi work well with UMS. Right now, UMS sees the Raspberry Pi as a XBMC.
So far H264 files encoded work well, other not so.
Please share experience, tips, conf files and transcoder setting! Will do too!

Re: For Raspberry PI AND Raspmc users
Hi
I'm streaming videos from UMS to RasPi but subtitles doesn't work at all. When streaming to PS3 subs are ok. I have tried many options in RaspBMC but without any luck. Could anyone give some hints what to try next? I'm a total linux newbie.

Has anyone got the working perfectly on R-PI yet? I'm thinking about getting one for XBMC and it would be a bonus if this works perfectly on it as well.

Re: For Raspberry PI AND Raspmc users
I own 2 Raspberry Pi's (B Models) and use Raspbmc (The others just setup as a vpn). It works ok with 720p video's but i've found some issues with 1080p videos stuttering.
I've also been playing around with it in terms of UMS and i'm not having much luck either.
I love my Pi's and i'm continuing to play around with it until i can get it working with UMS.

Re: For Raspberry PI AND Raspmc users
So do you think it's not possible to do 1080p on them? Or do you think it's a hardware limitation? I know it can run XBMC fine. How well do 1080p videos play in XBMC on PI?

Re: For Raspberry PI AND Raspmc users
It's possible i suppose, and xbmc will display in 1080p but i haven't updated mine in a little bit so it may work after i update.
If you use Raspbian, which i've got setup on a second SD card it will work with 1080p videos. Here's what i followed to do it
http://www.brianhensley.net/2012/07/how ... on-my.html
But i would like to use UMS with Raspbmc at 1080p so i'll try updating it tonight and i'll let you know how i go.
UPDATE:
Works fine with UMS over wired connection. Yet to test wireless. Updated to the latest version of Raspbmc and everything works great including 1080p.
Only time will tell after a bit more use how it goes.
You do need to add it like this:
Video - Files - Add Videos - Browse - UPnP Devices
It should then automatically detect it.
Plus with the new installer it will let set a static ip, if that may help.

Re: For Raspberry PI AND Raspmc users
Optimus,
Awesome. Thanks for the info. I've been thinking about getting an R-PI because they're so cheap and make a great HTPC. Just wanted to make sure they could do 1080p before I got one. Plus you can't beat the cost of them.

Re: For Raspberry PI AND Raspmc users
Thats why i got one (well two). Cheap and they work great, plus if you need to you use it for something else just wack in a different SD card and turn it back on.
Simple and very portable.

Re: For Raspberry PI AND Raspmc users
I'm in australia, so i used RS components and Element14. I ordered them when you could only get 1 at a time, hence the two different companies. Shipped direct from the UK, so around 40 bucks ea.
