[Solved] Sony BRAVIA XBR 65-A1E Renderer outdated /misdetected
[Solved] Sony BRAVIA XBR 65-A1E Renderer outdated /misdetected
I have the OLED Sony Bravia XBR 64A1E TV, which Universal Media Server loads the Sony XBR video codec for.
However, that codec data is from 2013? (This is a 2019 TV) and doesn't seem to support nearly the same codecs the TV supports. Some movies don't transcode correctly and in fact the Samsung CONF files seem to work considerably better because they're more recent. Is it possible to update the Bravia XBR conf file or is there another one I should be using?
Current Bravia XBR conf file - (that URL no longer works btw)

Re: Sony BRAVIA XBR 65-A1E Renderer outdated /misdetected
Hi cr0wl, yes we can definitely improve this. We rely on users like you to help with that. Please provide logs so that we can see how your TV identifies itself, and maybe we can make a new config for those newer TVs
Re: Sony BRAVIA XBR 65-A1E Renderer outdated /misdetected
Awesome! I attached the log.
I have a number of TV's / devices connected please ignore the others as they are totally fine, the one I am asking about is called "Living Room TV" which is the Sony BRAVIA 65A1E
It's detecting it as Sony XBR, which I think it is, but Sony has very old XBR models and newer ones like this OLED which are quite different.
Let me know if you need me to test/try anything, or if I attached the incorrect log. Thanks!

Could you post trace logs? (see the section in red above) the extra information will be useful to make a new conf

Thanks, I'll upload a config for you to try soon
Re: Sony BRAVIA XBR 65-A1E Renderer outdated /misdetected
Hey, sorry it took me a while to reply.
So it does not work correctly, it has the usual behavior where it sits for a long time trying to load, then finally loads the movie but it is extremely pixelated, no HDR, skips, and stops playing within a minute. On top of that pause and fast forward and the like menu controls are gone, it's just a stop button (which is how I usually know it's not working). And now there was no transcoding menu, it was just gone.
If I switch renderer to one of the Samsung ones, I get the transcode menu back and if I choose "NO TRANSCODING" the movie plays perfectly at full 4k with HDR, etc. But I have to pick no transcoding or again it doesn't play correctly by default.

Re: Sony BRAVIA XBR 65-A1E Renderer outdated /misdetected
If the video plays with the "No-transcoding" option then there must be something missing in the config (Maybe the resolution or bit depth)
Could you post more trace logs while using that config?

Ok I attached 2 logs. Defaultplay is where it looks broken and doesn't play well. Then No Transcoding is where it works perfectly. Using the new renderer file.
