roll back to 2.42 not working great, and any newer version

Post by champdee »

Any newer version skips the videos (.mkvs, anime). I tried updating to the newest one (big mistake, videos skipped, avc not playing now (and now, but i'll get to that.) I rolled back to 2.4.2, you'd think, no problem right? well the transcode maximum buffer's max is 997, instead of 837 (thank god remembered what it was for 2.4.2, because everything just skips and skips when I use 997..

Anyway why can't I just uninstall, delete any and all ums.conf, and have an older version working correctly like it should.. oh and now avc is just a black screen on videos that worked before on the original 2.42 I realllly want that fixed and am so mad...

please let me know how I can get avc to work again, any settings, anything.. I'm on an intel i73700k ivy bridge, 16gb ram, gigabit ethernet, gigabit router, cat 5e ethernet cable, windows 7. Newest java but only have the 64bit installed, cuz when the 32bits installed it wouldn't let me change the heap size (would crash)

Which renderer are you using? Aren't you seeing the videos on the list or they play with stutter?

When re-installing are you doing a "Clean Install" (selecting the checkbox below the buffer setting during install). Also the default buffer size (Java Heap) during install should be 768. I recommend doing a Clean install and setting your heap size to 768 and check if that fixes anything.

They play with stutter, weren't before I tried to get the newer version.. my renderer is ps3 slim. They won't if I set buffer to 837 (which was on 2.42 but is showing max 997 now, I don't get that especially after I did a clean uninstall and install, etc)

I've tried clean install and all that, the problem is after I installed the new version (uninstalling first, etc) when I try to go back to an old version it like leaves traces of the new version in the one I'm trying to "roll back" to sort to speak.. I'ts just a mess of problems.. avc won't work now I'm getting " Cannot parse AVC header, buffer length is 39" when I roll back..

Basically everything was fine before I upgraded to newer version.. now avc is saying " Cannot parse AVC header, buffer length is 39" with the same exact settings I had. Everything was perfectly fine... ugh this always happens, it's like a mission to get a good working version and everything set up, only to upgrade, roll back and not have your old working stuff that used to work perfectly...

I'm trying out 2.60 now.. and it connects to ps3 at 256 Mb/s? when I was getting 512 before? Max buffer is 997, that''s what caused the fast forward thing.. Like i"d be watching an anime and suddenly it jumps a minute ahead, that's what I meant but stuttering

txmuxer is now saying "content cannot be played" avc is broken and I don't know how to get it back now, new version or not..sorry for being bother sum.. I just don't get it.. oh and the whole increasing heap size thing was originally to get rid of the stuttering.

Tried setting default heap size to 768, didn't work/no changes..I'm thinking possibly on my old 2.42 install I put the heapsize that made the buffer max at 837, some obscure number and that has something to do with avc not working? I'm really stumped.. I don't know what heap size would make that max buffer (if that is indeed the problem.. cuz well, it worked before right?, maybe I need to reinstall my k-lite codecs or something? I don't know, I just remember there being an 837 max buffer on 2.42 for some reason.

All's I know is avc is completely broken now no matter what.. only thing I didn't try is reinstalling k-lite codecs.. I don't know any other more expert advice? I love this program so much that in the passed I've trialed and error-ed all day till things were back to normal but never this long this time....I'm very stumped,

One thing is I put the subtitles to off; which seems to trigger avc to prioritize instead of mencoder, which worked before upgrading but now I'm getting errors such as "content cannot be played" on my ps3 or "cannot parse, buffer is 39" in the UMS log.. I'm so lost this time..

Post a debug log please so we can check it out. Thats if you can get UMS to launch. If you have problems try uninstalling 32bit Java and installing 64bit java and see if that works.

ok sure... sorry I didn't in the first place.. It launces, plays most stuff ok.. (I think I got everything running decent but when I turn off subtitles which I want to and had no problem doing before it tried to use avc (even tsmuxer is completely broke) Just avc is like bam, broken now and I do not get why.
