That log snippet is not much help as there is no context and most of the important bits to troubleshooting will be in TRACE mode.
The database size is a vast difference and it should be much faster now, but it could still be retrieving metadata if it takes longer than it should.
Once all that has been retrieved then it should be instant.
I did not know you were on Linux. I know very little about Linux so I can't be of much help with OS stuff but hopefully I can point you in the right direction if I can see what UMS is doing.

On my side, I have tried again... and abandoned. Nothing changed, even after a complete night of scanning (I must confess that my media files are stored 6 HD of 5 To each, which is quite big...).
Gettingback to the last 13.10.1 is fine for me, as it perfectly does the job.
