Renderer graphics
Running UMS on my PC is great, and I have managed to get a nice graphic to show in the UMS UI of my most-used renderer - a fabulous all-in-one streamer-amp, a Cambridge Audio Evo 75. (also available as a 150 version).
At a minimum, seeing the device appear when starting UMS is reassuring for me.... I am however completely confused by trying to set up a conf file (say "Evo 75.conf") for the unit, and have given up, despite having read all the info on how to do this. I am therefore not able to control the device from within UMS, but it's no big deal for me, as I use the Cambridge app - StreamMagic - on my phone to 'find' the UMS server, play music, and do all the usual control stuff (play, stop, next, pause, volume etc).
With new versions of UMS, there is usually a new ums.jar file, and I usually have to open the file in WinRAR, and add the .png file (the graphic of my Evo) into "resources->images->clients". I also reference that .png in my "Evo 75.conf" file as is required - although I'm sure of other things in that file are just wrong and ignored.
My request is: can the file "Cambridge_Audio_Evo_75-tiny.png" that I have made be used as part of UMS's distribution, along with the "Evo 75.conf" file (even though the latter needs fixing!) - this would save me from having to hand edit the umr.jar on each new release.
I attach the png, the conf file and a pic of UMS running....
Thanks

Re: Renderer graphics
There is no need to add the icon to the jar file, you can just put the image file in the same folder as the renderer conf and it will be used. I tested this here. This way it will not be overwritten each update.
For the evo conf there is no need to have 3 UserAgentSearch lines, I think all but one will be ignored. It would be better to just have
I'm not sure if the renderer control options are working in UMS as it is not something I use but when I did try many versions ago it was a bit hit and miss with my old Samsung TV.
I don't know of any way of improving this in the conf but there may be some options you can try. See the DefaultRenderer.conf for the documentation on what is available. There were some new options added recently.

Code: Select all
UserAgentSearch = StreamMagic

Re: Renderer graphics
Thanks - I appreciate the reply.
It might be nice for the devs to include the Evo pic in the standard release though - the unit is one the 2-3 top streamer/amps.
I will try the advice for my Evo.conf file!
TBH, I add and subtract lines in this file just to see what does and doesn't work, as I can't decipher what most of the stuff in these files is for!
Edit - I just tested your suggestion for the .conf file [but used just "Evo 75" as the string], and hey presto! I can at least now change the volume on the device
