[Solved] How to download the x64 version of UMS?
When I download UMS-14.8.0. Im getting this message: There is a specific 64 bit installer version. Proceed with old installer anyway?
Re: How to download the x64 version of UMS?
What OS are you using?
I know on windows they improved the installer for x86 and 64 bit so UMS is installed in the appropriate folders now [x86 in C:\Program Files (x86) and 64 bit in C:\Program Files]
The installer should include both versions but I think it asks that question if upgrading from an old version. There is no specific download for each type.
It might be better to do a clean install if you have a previous version, I think when I tried it last month there were still links to the old folder that broke some things. A clean install fixed it, that is in the advanced options when installing. To keep your settings backup C:\ProgramData\UMS first.
14.9.0 auto updates to the 64 bit version if I understand the release notes correctly that would have solved that problem.
I think for now just proceed with the old and when the next version is publicly available it will switch to the correct Windows 64-bit release.

Re: How to download the x64 version of UMS?
That does not seem to work (for me).. Win 11 Pro 24H2
I did a complete uninstall.. and manually deleted remaining UMS directories in Program files (x86) and in Program data .. rebooted..
Went to do the fresh install and it again prompted per the OP post.
It also remembered the install directory where I had it before (having uninstalled, I would have expected it to revert back to C:\......)
Perhaps since it remembered the install location as a (x86) directory.. it did the reinstall as 32 bit.. and if I changed it to 64 bit directory may be it would have gone 64 bit.. dont know..
but it more complex than just a "uninstall and install fresh"
Unless someone can give a nice easy solution I will just wait till the 14.9.0 version becomes available to me.. and try again.

Re: How to download the x64 version of UMS?
Sorry, I didn’t update the website to automatically download the x64 version yet, I will do that soon. But yes the auto updater will do it from 14.9.0 onwards
Re: [Solved] How to download the x64 version of UMS?
This should be fixed on the website now - it will automatically download the x64 version
Re: [Solved] How to download the x64 version of UMS?
Thanks, it seems to be fixed, it now downloads UMS-14.8.0-x86-64.exe
Wish the installer was clearer on what it was doing, as it still remembered my install directory (even after a full uninstall) and so wanted to install to my "program files (x86)" directory,
SO I manually told it to put in the "Program Files" directory, trusting it would install 64 bit.
It installed fine... and checking the running process javaw.exe confirmed it was running x64
(Though it would have been nice if the "About" option in the app said it was 64 bit.. it does not confirm).
