Thanks for the no help getting my DP-UB9000 to play wav on UMS

Post by LincolnG »

It's such a shame that nobody took my Question seriously / nobody could be bothered to answer or investigate.

UMS Used to be a fantastic media server. However if it doesn't work and there is no support, then it is useless.

Finally, I uninstalled it.

Downloaded a copy of Serviio 2.4

It's nowhere near as nice as UMS - however it did work first time, it was very easy to setup.

With SERVIIO my DP-UB9000 plays 44.1 KHz 16bit & 24bit wav files perfectly - as well as all my HD Movies.

I just spent several hours going though your logs and testing WAVs on my TV trying to see what would cause them not to play.

It would have been a lot easier if you provided the information I asked for and had followed the instructions on creating logs as there was no attempt of playing them.

There was only one error in the logs but may have had no effect on them playing, but as there was no play attempt I could not see if it is related.

I did provide the info, standard wav lpcm 44.1KHz 16/24 bit. I provided that many times.

The log were produced (bug tracing was on) while attempting to play several wav files. If that didn't trace the error, then what am I supposed to do.

You claimed that it was a problem with my player and it didn't support wav, which I told you on multiple occasions was impossible.

I cannot try an earlier version or UMS because no earlier versions work on 23H2 & 24H2 Windows 11. However trying another DNLA Server, may have provided enough information to get UMS working - if you are interested!

You did not advise me that you were investigating, it seemed to me that you didn't even know what lossless wav was - you certainly didn't understand the capability of my media player, which is surprising considering that it is seriously high-end and one of the most recommended in the business.

So, it is proved, there is a bug in UMS, stopping it from playing wav on Panasonic DP-UB9000, my guess is that the config file detected is more for a Panasonic Vera TV, rather than a 4K Bluray & Net Media Player, possibly there needs to be a specific config for this machine. Given SRVIIO is just detecting my DP-UB9000 as a generic bluray media player (nothing specially defined), somebody just needs to tell me another .config in the list that should be similar to my DP-UB9000 and create a new .config for it.

And of course, very helpful for you, my media server is a dedicated 10 Gen i7 with 32Gb RAM, more than able to run both these servers at once, I am prepared to install UMS again and try some suggestions. I can continue using SERVIIO until UMS is working.

I am also very happy to send you an example of a wav that I need to be able to play, if that would be helpful to you.
