.WTV Support
Hello,
I have been using UMS for quite some time and it works beautifully. However, it never lists TV recordings which are stored in the .WTV format. I've read that FFMPEG supports this format (in another topic), so it should be possible.
My question:
Is it possible to alter UMS to list and play .WTV files so these can play on all devices (with transcoding when needed).
Thanks!

Re: .WTV Support
If FFmpeg supports WTV it should be possible.

Re: .WTV Support
Thank you for your answer.
According to the FFMPEG site, it supports WTV. However, WTV files aren't listed by UMS. I added my recording folder to UMS to be scanned, but clients always show it is completely empty. So my guess is that UMS skips these files somehow. Are you able to look into this? Thanks!

Re: .WTV Support
Yes the .wtv extension might be skipped. Can you verify that ffmpeg/mencoder can play these files first? simply type ffmpeg -i <your file> -target ntsc-dvd abc.mpg
Wait awhile and the ctrl-c if all worked well you should have a file called abc.mpg which should be possible to view over UMS. If it worked remove the file and we'll look into how to wtv support

Here you go. It's a short recording from a HD channel (Film1). Thanks for looking into it.
