Re: Stuttering playback on wired connection - 720p, 1080p bo

Asking for ping results, was only to see if there was excessive latency between pings. Powerline adapters have bad issues with latency as i've had the pleasure of using one myself, and my experience was only short (went straight in the bin).
The next thing i was to suggest was to try taking your powerline adapter out of the equation (looks like someone else has mentioned it) . Personally i stick to wired connections (100mpbs or better) to my playstation but others may have other opinions......

Could well be the case, they are very much dependant on the quality of wiring and any interference....I see you are using a 2wire (BT's Business Router?) I was going to suggest trying wireless and using a booster....but if memory serves me correctly the 2wire use G as their wireless....my router now is N although I do have 2 2wire's. The downside was the connectivity to the PS3 upstairs which has to be wireless when using the 2wire connection was flaky to say the least.

Yeah the 2wire gateway is wireless G which is why I'm using a router for the intranet and have the gateway's router functions turned off. unfortunately I'm not in a positron
where I can wire directly from my desktop to the router but I'm going to try the powerline adapter on a plug without a powerbar above or below it

Thanks a ton for the help guys, especially Optimus

So the problem was 100% network. The 2.4 GHz frequency for WiFi in my neighbourhood must be satured to high heaven. Also the Powerline adapter was severely crippled by old wiring in the house I think.

Anyway, I bought a new dual band router and dual band Wireless N USB dongle. Streaming works perfectly now on 720p and virtually flawless on 1080p. Naturally, I have the PS3 plugged in to a [gigabit] router as well.

Thanks for all your help guys
