Aspect Ratio on Panasonic UT50 Smart TV

Post by civ »

Hello,

I've been trying to figure out if there is a way to fix the aspect ratio issue on my Panasonic UT50, primarily affecting MKV files that are 720p or 1080p. When playing videos (via DLNA), they're stretched vertically. I read several threads about this being fixed when using Mencoder, which indeed corrects the aspect ratio by adding black bars at the top and bottom, but when doing that I seem to be getting occasional video stuttering which results in audio/video sync issues (correctable by temporarily pausing the video). My CPU (4570K) seems to be heavily used by Mencoder due to the transcoding, all 4 cores at nearly 100% most of the time. Wired gigabit connection via gigabit router but I don't think the UT50 supports that.

So, the videos play smoothly when not using Transcode but are stretched vertically and vice versa. Is there any way to correct the aspect ratio without Mencoder? The log files are attached, I'm currently using the latest UMS-Builder build but it's the same issue in 3.0 Alpha 1 and 2.6.4.

Please let me know if you need any additional information or want me to try something, or if I'm just SOL on this one.

Thanks! :)
