[Suggestion] Audio: Dynamic Range Compression
[Suggestion] Audio: Dynamic Range Compression

Basically this feature that is in VLC, is there any way to get it into UMS?
Trying to watch The Avengers right now, dialogue is quiet, then BOOOOOOM action is so loud you can hear it downstairs, and people upstairs are trying to sleep. If I turn it down low during the action, I can't hear the dialogue.. constant twisting my speaker volume knob -_-
So is this even possible for UMS from a technical perspective? If so, what are the chances we could see it anytime soon? (~6 months?)
Thanks
Edit: Haha. I was reading the comments for that post I linked, and noticed I actually posted in it last year because of the same problem I'm having now:
I had this problem while watching LOTR Extended Edition bluray recently. I was constantly adjusting the volume for dialogue and then lowering it for action, it was insane. literally every 5 minutes or less I was adjusting the volume, I can't find any options on my TV or bluray player to fix this :( 6/22/12 1:54am
This is so godamn annoying.

Re: Audio: Dynamic Range Compression
Isn't there any way to pass advanced transcoding options to VLC as an engine? That way you may use the proper VLC audio processing switches if implemented...
-- UMS serving PS3, WDTV, Samsung H6400 + J5500 and Kalemsoft renderers! (no video transcoding but remuxing accepted
)
