[Solved] UMS 3.2.0 FLAC files showing as Unsupported Data

Post by mookieguy »

It's like UMS isn't detecting the proper engine (ffmpeg audio) to use on flac files. I can go to the transcode folder, and in there the flacs are showing with [VLC] as the engine. when i click on a file, I then see another Unsupported Data choice, and a proper flac file with [FFmpeg Audio] engine, which plays fine.

Also, this bug has been present for a while but i might as well go ahead and mention it here as well. 24 bit flac files do not play under the Video section of the PS3. They sometimes don't show up, and when they do, it has the [VLC] engine and give a "The data type is not supported" message. Actually i was just able to get a "Media Server Error: An HTTP error (500) has occured" message after going into a transcode folder and selecting the [Audio High Fidelity] engine. I've tried to attach a debug zip but the forum keeps taking me back to login page. Not sure if this will help, but this thread discusses the 24 bit problem too: http://www.ps3mediaserver.org/forum/vie ... 0&start=10

thanks!

Thanks for the reply SubJunk. Unfortunately both problems are still present in 3.1.2.

On a side note I've now tried to attach the debug zip file using 3 different browsers and 2 different operating systems. All kick me back to the login screen of the forum when i click the "add this file" button after choosing the zip file. If there's another way i can get you the zip file if that helps let me know.

thanks.

Wow that's weird. I dunno what to say about the attachments since other users seem to be adding them with no problem, it seems likely it's on your end but I'm not sure what it could be. Anyway you can upload the log zip to MediaFire :)

I think I've traced my upload problem to possibly a size issue. I'm able to upload a small text file, but if I try to upload the zip file, log file, or the zipped up log file, it logs me out and sends me back to the login page. In any event, here's a link to the zip on mediafire: http://www.mediafire.com/download/4wlz7 ... ms_dbg.zip
This has me selecting a flac file that's showing as "unsupported data," then going into the transcode folder and finding the proper engine/file and playing it. It also shows me trying to play a 24-bit flac file from the video section of the ps3, and trying the find the audio high fidelity engine under the transcode folder and it giving me the http 500 error.

I'm not able to check at the moment, but I'm pretty sure the problem for flacs started at 3.0. 2.6.5 worked ok IIRC. I think it may have to do with the fact the mencoder was removed from the audio section in 3.0. It's like something wasn't updated to use ffmpeg instead of mencoder for flacs. This is just a guess.

For the 24-bit under video, this used to work way back in the ps3 media server days. Then all of a sudden it stopped working. It's like it doesn't know it needs to add a black/blank video file to the 24-bit flac audio and mux them together so that it will play in the video section without losing the quality of the 24-bit audio, since the audio section of the ps3 cant handle this type of file. The link to the forum I posted above explains this better than I do.

I've reproduced the error and hopefully fixed it, can you try this version?

Alright! 16 bit flac files now show [FFmpeg Audio] and play properly!

24 bit flac files now show [Audio High Fidelity], but unfortunately still come up with "Media server Error: An HTTP error (500) has occurred." when played.

That's good news :) Could you please find the last version that played 24-bit flac files? I've reproduced the bug and it would help me a lot if you could do that
