Buffer and bitrate does not fill up.
Hi all,
A strange problem started occuring around a week ago. My buffer and and Current Bitrate remain on zero. As in, they don't move at all when streaming a video. So when watching a video, it says it has started to play it, but after a few seconds it will just stop and not play more than half a second thereafter. Some videos take a while to do this. It also takes a long time to start playing, and to skip chapters.
I'm on a wireless network, 2 pcs are wired, Xbox 360 and WD Live Media box. I counted back and found the source to be a logitech hd webcam that I installed, which placed a "3rd" network connection, I have since uninstalled this and the software, rebooted, but hasn't fixed the problem.
Can someone please shed some light as to where to look? I'm a bit between a novice and expert, so some simple terminology will be appreciated.
I have posted logs if that helps?
In the logs I do see "Address /192.168.1.4 has an estimated network speed of: 0 Mb/s" (this is the IP of the WD Live) Which is strange
cheers,
David

Re: Buffer and bitrate does not fill up.
Hi splicer, thanks for the logs. I need trace logs though so can you please follow the instructions in the link in my signature to get them? Thanks
Re: Buffer and bitrate does not fill up.
Oops, sorry Subjunk.
Here you go. Hope this helps, because it's got me baffled.
FWIW, I did get an XBox One on the week prior to this, and was all working fine, I doubt it's anything to do with that. Just trying to track down the source.

Re: Buffer and bitrate does not fill up.
Your log file still looks to be set to Debug not Trace.
Also might want to update your VLC player to 2.xx:

Hi splicer, sorry for the confusion, you need to change the level to trace before reproducing the bug, not aftersplicer wrote:Oops, sorry Subjunk.

Re: Buffer and bitrate does not fill up.
Oops sorry, here's the trace logs.
I did update to VLC, restarted everything but that didn't seem to work. Is that related to the UMS is it? How? Codecs?
cheers,
David

Re: Buffer and bitrate does not fill up.
I have the same issue... UMS 2.6.5 works fine but when I look at the Status screen when serving it always shows:
Current bitrate: (Mb/s) 0
Peak bitrate: (Mb/s) 0
Buffer: Empty
Any way to fix this?

Re: Buffer and bitrate does not fill up.
The buffer is only used when transcoding, but those files are streaming because the renderers support the files. So this is normal. If you want to force transcoding for some reason, there is the "Force transcoding" setting on the Transcoding Settings tab.
