xbox 360 audio issue

Hi when I try to play avi files with 5.1 audio xbox 360 rejects them as it can only deal with 2.0 audio ( I researched this). I dont mind to play 2.0 audio , but seem to be unable to "downmix" to 2.0 in ums audio settings (I have ticked relevant output for re-encoding to 2 channels.
Any suggestion and advise would be much appreciated thanks

go into the xbox360.conf and change where it says a:6 to a:2
