slow browsing

Hi, I have a MAC with Mavericks, a OPPO Player and UMS 3.3.0, when i browse the directory where i store my movies UMS is extremely slow: it takes up to a minute to show the contents of the main folder. I store up to 50 movies (each with its own folder) in the main folder, is that the problem? Are there workarounds?
