You can build a new version yourself using UMSBuilder and you'll get this feautre right away since I merged it to master.

Can you add a catch for adhering to the option of not displaying empty folders as well?
I have a lot of folders, and they all show in the 'new media' folder whether there are new items or not within that folder.

Hi everyone, new here 
I have "Hide Empty Folders" ticked, but in the New Media folder I still see all the folders, even though most of them are empty, which makes it very hard to actually find the new media. This is what I see:
Also, is there a way I can configure USM to not use folders in the New Media folder?
For example, this is what I would like to see when browsing:
