How do you sort your media?

So I'm curious how people are using UMS and how they structure their media.

I'm only using UMS for serving TV shows from my windows PC to my Sony Bravia.

I have all my TV shows stored on an external USB3 hard drive, they are are in show folders, with season folders under that.
For example, an episode of Sherlock can be found at
F:\Videos\TV\Sherlock\Season 01\Sherlock - S01E01 - A Study in Pink.mkv

Does anyone use the "New Media" folder in UMS? I'm trying to, but its inability to hide folders that don't have any new items in them makes it border on useless as I have to look through all the folder to find new episodes anyway (I'm trying to solve this problem myself, I've checked out the source code, but I'm yet to have a real proper play with it so far).

I have a folder for Movies and another for TV shows, and basically I navigate the folder tree from the root. I hoped the New Media folder would be an easier way to go to the latest media added, but as you say it's not (folder entries at the top obscuring the new files, that not even the Clear All button got them off list to "restart clean")

What I would expect in there is a list of media files, stripped from all folders structure, ordered by added date in descending order. Once it is watched, that particular file should be deleted from the list.

Yeah, thats kinda what I would have expected the new media folder to do as well.

In fact I have that working in a local branch of the source, but I've got to play with it a bit because it seems awfully inefficient at the moment (its still building a DLNA resource for each folder, just not displaying it).

I don't really mind the ordering, as I don't get enough new files a day to worry about it.

Truth time... I actually started this thread to see how people used the New Media folder, as I think my changes are unlikely to get accepted into the main branch if people are happy with the current New Media folder.

My folder structure is kinda easy:

.\Media\Movies\ <-- just add this folder in UMS
.\Media\Movies\Movies\
.\Media\Movies\3D\
.\Media\Movies\!!!TEST\
.\Media\Movies\TV_Shows\
.\Media\Movies\Cartoons\
.\Media\Movies\!!Keep_or_Toss\

I dont share my Music because we all have either Pandora or Spotify -- mp3's are kind of dying off here in the States...

Photos never really messed with because we all use Facebook or Dropbox -- and even then the photos we do share i wifidirect to my tv from the phone.
