So I never found a way of playing VFR video on the HTS5593, but found a better solution; returning it and getting a Samsung model instead.This solution was far quicker and easier than attempting to get UMS working with the Philips player,

though I noticed the default allshare renderer config doesn't list .m4v under streamextensions so they wouldn't play by default. Perhaps this could be changed in the default configs, assuming it doesn't break other allshare devices?

Yes they would, it would just then be transcoded.

You can test away on your own SamsungAllShare.cong but most of us have the defualt SamsungAllShare.cong working =)

Perhaps I should have said "they DIDN'T play by default" instead of "wouldn't", as my player did not play .m4v files until I added it to the streamextensions list.
