UMS 8.0.0 install as service problem [SOLVED] - archive please

Post by [email protected] »

Hi,

i want to share my experience with installing UMS ver, 8.0.0 as service on Windows 10 64bit version 1809, using 32bit Java version 8 update 211. I had no such difficulties in version 7.4.0.

Install UMS as you do - do setup - do setting and than hit Install as service and than happened this - install ends with error so:

Diagnostics:
First step:
Problem: As first step i found problem in Event viewer - there was an error ID Event 7030 - Digital Media server is flagged as interactive service and system is configured not allow run these services.
!ALWAYS MAKE REGISTRY BACKUP BEFORE DOING CHANGES!
Solution: Regedit => HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows >NoInteractiveServices is set to "1" - repair it by changing it to "0" After doing so and rebooting, the Interactive Services Detection Service will start.

After doing first step, service will start softly, but starting ends by error of the application so we go forward:

Second step:
Problem: There is an error in configuration of wrapper.conf
Solution: In C:\Program Files (x86)\Universal Media Server\win32\service there is file Wrapper.conf - find "wrapper.java.classpath.2=pms.jar" it is line 16 and change it to "wrapper.java.classpath.2=UMS.jar" - save

After doing second step, UMS start flawlessly and seems everything ok - if you find any problems with service, you can always uninstall it via CMD runned as administrator and using command: SC Remove "Digital Media Server" and installing it again.

If you need restart service do it via CMD by command: Net Stop "Digital media server" followed by command Net Start "Digital Media Server"

Be Aware ! At version 7.4.0 is service named "Universal Media Server"!!!
