MP3 files only showing in 'Transcode' folder

Post by Echoes_ »

Hello, previously I was running UMS on Xubuntu and when I would browse MP3 files via ps4, the individual files would display, and I could enable shuffle. Recently I decided I wanted a change, so I reloaded the machine with Mint Cinnamon 19.3. Now when I browse the same files, in the same directory structure, on ps4 they are only displayed in the 'Transcode' folder. Is there a setting I'm missing, or is anyone aware of the cause? Thanks.

Make sure that you have installed MediaInfo. I can't quite see how it should matter if it's Mint or Xubuntu, but you might have forgotten to install MediaInfo after the reinstall.

If that's not it, I'd say it would have to be because of a bug and using a different version of UMS.

Thanks for the reply. I went back through the install guide and checked the dependencies, and unfortunately the issue isn't related to MediaInfo.

Do you know which version of UMS you were running on the old installation? I would start by installing the same version, to see if it's caused by a new bug.

I actually had just updated to 9.6.2 (no issues), and decided I wanted to change OS. I think what I may do is use UMS for video and Gerbera for music.

Hehe, if you find that easier I guess that's a "solution". Don't expect everything else to work properly though, whatever the issue is, I very much doubt it's limited to MP3 (or audio) files only.
