Startup delay detecting renderers?

Post by drwestco »

I've been running PS3 Media Server with good luck for a few months now, but it stopped detecting renderers for some reason. So I decided to try UMS instead, as it appears to be more recently updated. I'm seeing a long delay after startup before it connects to any renderers. Log snippet:

Code: Select all

04-08 15:27:23 Using the following UUID configured in UMS.conf: 8f77b34b-0a0c-44ee-9881-9567c8116338
04-08 15:27:23 The server is now available for renderers to find
04-08 15:27:28 Changed debug level to TRACE
04-08 15:30:54 No IP filter specified, access granted to /192.168.1.153
04-08 15:30:54 Checking IP: 192.168.1.153 for Sony Bravia W6/W8/W9
04-08 15:30:54 Renderer Sony Bravia W6/W8/W9 found on this address: tv256fd7dc96da.lan (192.168.1.153)
04-08 15:30:55 No IP filter specified, access granted to /192.168.1.116
04-08 15:30:55 Checking IP: 192.168.1.116 for PlayStation 3
04-08 15:30:55 Renderer PlayStation 3 found on this address: 192.168.1.116
So there's a 3+ minute gap between "available" and "found". Is this normal? When PMS was working properly, it detected these same devices within a few seconds of startup.

Attached debug logs, if that helps.

Thanks.

There can be a gap between detection, but not normally that long. Let me see if you have anything in your logs and i'll get back to you.

I'm also having general slowness and connection issues. Sometimes my renderers (TV, PS3) can't see the server at all. Other times, I'll get a "server not responding" or similar error trying to initiate playback or simply browse into a folder. Even when it is working, there's significant delay when I try to view a folder before its contents actually appear.

I'll try to capture logs for these issues if I can isolate them. Let me know if there are other debugging tips I should try.
