[Solved] 24-bit FLAC files "This content cannot be played."

Post by mookieguy »

Hello,

Sorry to be so late to the party with this bug. This problem was addressed way back in this thread:

viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1349

This error is happening again whenever i try and play a 24-bit flac file under the video menu of my ps3: This content cannot be played. (800288E1)
This is using the newest UMS 4.3.1

Log tab shows:
12-13 14:33:57 Process C:\Program Files (x86)\Universal Media Server\win32\ffmpeg.exe has a return code of 1! Maybe an error occurred... check the log file

I went back through old versions, and the last working version was UMS 3.3.0
Log tab shows:
12-13 14:38:28 Started playing A2 - Keep The Car Running.flac on your PlayStation 3

UMS 3.2.0: 24-bit files do not play. (This content cannot be played. (800288E1))
UMS 3.3.0: 24-bit flac files play fine.
It seems this started breaking again in the very next release.
UMS 3.4.0 all the way through UMS 4.3.1: 24-bit flac files do not play. (This content cannot be played. (800288E1))

I believe the same fix that was implemented from 3.2.0 to 3.3.0 needs to be applied again. Let me know if you need current log files, but the log files in the thread linked above should suffice.

thanks!

Hey just checking to see if I can be of any more help with this? Are current log files needed or will the ones from the last thread be sufficient?

Thanks!

With U5, 16 bit flac plays OK
But a 24bit wav file generated white noise (from mediainfo - 2 117 Kbps, 44.1Khz, 24 bits, 2 channels, PCM (Little / SIgned)
Let me know if you want a copy of the log file in debug mode.

I just tried reproducing this and I couldn't even get 3.3.0 to work, though it used to work for me. Maybe there's something weird about the file I tested, can you please upload a 24-bit FLAC file that works with 3.3.0?

Here you go. this plays under the PS3 video section on UMS 3.3.0.

Too big to post as an attachment apparently.

Thanks for the file. It works for me on PS3 with 5.0.0. Have you tried the Clean Install option in the installer?
