XBox 360 doesn't detect UMS - Fresh Install

Post by Phweak »

Hey there, after starting with Tversity, not getting immediate results, then moving to PS3 Media Server and again, no immediate results, I decided to use UMS and stick with it until it worked. Both Tversity and PMS were detected by my Xbox 360 but they did not readily play my movie collection outside of the mp4 formatted ones. Once realizing that UMS was still maintained I switched to it, having in the years-past gotten PMS to work, albeit on a craptop (waste of time, buffer > movie experience). However UMS does not seem to want to show up. Before changing each transcoding/media serving program I would uninstall and then proceed to install the new program. I can only hope that once I get the 360 to see the UMS Server it will transcode my .mkv's to the 360 (/crosses fingers). I'm uploading the log but as it is a fresh install and I have changed practically nothing, I'm not sure what to make of it. To note: The renderer (Xbox 360 - AKA Skinny Sexbox) is listed on the host side of things (the PC GUI) but it does not show up on the 360. I have restarted the computer and the Xbox to no avail. I'm running Windows 8.1 I've manually added UMS to the Windows firewall exclusions just in case.

Just chiming in to say I have the same issue. I suspect I'm doing something wrong as I tried PS3 media server with the same results.

My server (Windown Home Server 2011) can see the Xbox 360 but the Xbox 360 doesn't pick up the media server.

Happy to provide any diagnostics that may help.
