Useful hint for Panasonic Viera E30 series
Useful hint for Panasonic Viera E30 series
Having tried just about anything I could find on this forum or anywhere else, I found an almost perfect and simple solution for my Panasonic TX-L37E30E which uses Panasonic-Viera.conf.
In the .conf file I commented (#) the line: "TranscodeVideo = MPEGTS-H264-AC3"
Now all files that need transcoding are transcoded by either FFMPEG or MenCoder. In the latter case the image is cropped to 1080x14?? or so but the tv somewhat automatically stretches it to 1080x1920.
If not, a push (or two) on the "Aspect" button on the remote will do the trick. Seems like Mencoder is working not correct or the Panasonic refuses to respond correctly but since it's easily solved by a push on the aforementioned button, I can live with that.
FFMPEG however, does the job perfectly if it can handle the file.
Mind you, I am using just the tv for rendering and no receiver or separate amplifier.
Without altering Panasonic-Viera.conf I could not get the sound right either. Just humming or silence.
Hope someone may benefit from this post.
