Disabling subtitle enconding

Hi there,

I started using UMS recently and so far Im happy about it.
Now Im having the same issue as in EVERY DNLA server I try that it just insists on encoding the video to put subtitles.
My device supports subtitles and Im having a hard time to force UMS to use external subtitles.

I recommend to use as a basic the LG-LS5700.conf and change the UserAgentSearch to match your TV. The .conf you provided doesn't work because you set

but you didn't specify any supported formats e.g.

Thanks for the reply.

For some reason it started working without me doing anything. At first it was using the wrong .config file. But than it detected the device properly as "LG-HTS" (a BlueRay player) and asked to create a new one. Last night my friend used it and he told me that its now not transcoding anything and just sending the file with the subtitle. Still, I added those settings you told me so its works better I guess. Is there a place where we can know all the parameters for .config files?

Something I noticed though is that its only detecting 1 subtitle on my player instead of 2. On the debugg log its detecting both, but on the player only shows 1. I have them named the same as the file with .en.srt on 1 (the subtitle that gets pulled by default) and .pt.srt on the other that doesnt get loaded at all. Any idea on how to fix this?

Btw. UMS sends subs depending on preference. It means if subs are not supported at all, UMS will transcode video and burn subs depending on your Audio/Subs preference.
If external subs are supported, depending on subs preference only first match found from all subs are sent to the renderer.
If internal subs are supported, UMS sends file as is (e.g. MKV) so Renderer can see all embeded subs in container.

Hi there,

I didnt know about any reference so that was an attempt to avoid UMS transcoding DTS lol.

About subs, UMS sometimes thinks subs are not supported when they are although I beleive that is all configurations. But now its working but he only sends 1 external sub. Where can I change those preferences?

Writing on mobile with autocorection enabled is a horror.
I reformulated the sentence:
If external subs are supported, depending on subs preference only first match found from all subs are sent to the renderer.
So there is no option to send more subs at time, only one matching the preference. If preferred subs are e.g. turkish and file includes more turkish subs, only first one is sent to renderer.
Not sure if more subs can be sent separately but if yes, you can try create feature request on github.
E.g. option to send all external subs to the renderer if supported (all matching subs or all available subs. Matching = depending on preferred subs configuration)
