ZoneAlarm preventing devices from connecting to UMS

Post by rickzarber »

Hi. Hopefully someone can help me. I installed UMS and have been struggling to make it work for the last few hours; no joy so far. I can get it to detect several devices, but not a single device so far has recognized it in return. And even though the debug log shows some interaction with my PS3, it has not shown up on the renderers list. I've attached my log data, where I went though the devices one by one trying to get them to work. If anyone can give me troubleshooting suggestions, I'd be grateful. I've set UMS to "allow" in all fields of my Firewall (I use ZoneAlarm) but I don't know if there are other things I should be changing. I've no prior experience fiddling with networks, so I may be missing something obvious. EDIT: I found that, using the web interface, I was able to stream to my phone just fine--I just had no browsing ability. Not sure what that means.

EDIT2: Changing thread title, 'cause it's definitely a problem with the firewall on my PC. When I exit out of ZoneAlarm, everything works properly. If ZA is running--even if the firewall is switched off in-program--I can't connect.

For easy reference:

192.***.*.5 - My computer
192.***.*.10 - Roommate's computer
192.***.*.11 - PS3

My greatest appreciation for any time anyone spends to help me out.
