Cannot get Universal Media Server to connect to PS3

I am at the end of my rope with this. All attempts to get the Media Server to connect to my PS3 has failed. Currently I am getting an error that states the port is blocked. I added the Universal Media Program to the Firewall and even created TDP and UPD incoming and outgoing entries in the Firewall. Still same issue. Nothing I can find is using port 5001 so I am not sure what the issue is. How would I determine another Port I would be able to use?

It looks like you are running multiple instances of UMS at the same time. Have you installed UMS as a Windows service? If so, uninstall the service. If that's not the case, you probably have another media server running on the same computer on the same port.

Im the same. Just havent been able to get UMS running since i upgraded to Win10.

Ive tried forcing the adaptor ip and renderer but this always tells me the port is blocked no matter which random number i put in for the port.

I disabled Windows Firewall and have no firewall on my router. Tried Java 7 and 8. Tried uninstalling/reinstalling with a clean install. Media streaming is set to on.
I can see the PS3 as an unknown device in my media settings with the correct MAC address. The PS3 CAN see my pc as a server but i think this must be something to do
with WMP, not sure.
I just dont understand.
Have tried Plex and it works fine but i want to use UMS. (Plex wasnt running while UMS was)

Ive a feeling its something to do with ports being blocked but cant see any way to resolve it since i tried disabling all firewalls and allowed ums, java, wrapper.
Any1 got any ideas? Im stuck...

Maybe Win10's own media streaming is using the port? You could configure UMS to use a different port.

Check with process has the port open with "netstat -nb". It may be 2 copies of UMS running simultaneously. Check it with task manager.
