v2.2.0 still works with Ext subs and mkv with embedded subs

I can go back and forth between 2.2.0 and everything after that, without changing any settings, and 2.2.0 will play external subs when the mkv has an embedded sub but none of the releases after that will.

I suppose there's no reason for me not to just stick with 2.2.0, but just so you guys know about this bug, or feature, regression.
